What is God looking for?  What is it that gets His attention? What is it that turns His head towards YOU?

The answer is not easy or popular. It may not even be what you think.

In scripture, we see that God continually bypasses the really talented, the masterfully skilled, and "the most likely to succeed" for the BROKEN. People who have fully embraced God's process. People who have embraced the pain, confusion, and sacrifice that comes with an authentic walk with Christ. People who have willingly surrendered their own plans, agendas, and outcomes.

King David understood that even in one of his darkest moments (after Nathan confronts him with his sin of adultery and murder) God didn't desire a token offering or a momentary display of compliance; He wanted something so much more.

"For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."(Psalm 51:16-17)

God wanted a broken David. God wanted a heart that was fully surrendered to Him and completely empty of himself. Broken people have gone through the valley; they have allowed God to shape them, and now they are ready and willing to listen to the leading of the Holy Spirit and walk in obedience.

I believe that brokenness turns the head of God. I believe that God will continually search for fully surrendered vessels through whom he can display his power and carry out his purposes.
